Launching Cork Craft Month 2019 within the stunning walled gardens of Fota House, Co Cork, was basketmaker Rosemarie Kavanagh, from Wildrose Basketry, whose work will be placed in the spotlight during this annual event. The library at Fota House played host to this year’s launch event, which was held in tandem with the official opening of the ‘Present Past’ exhibition that runs in August.

Now in its 10th year, Cork Craft Month sees makers and designers from all over the county and beyond come together to showcase the works of craft and design that are produced in Cork, displaying a wealth of talent and highlighting the ‘shop local’ mantra, as well as the incredible quality of the handmade goods on offer in all corners of the county. It’s still BBQ season guys and I love the look of this party speaker from Sony. Check out the integrated cup holders. Just pop your beverage of choice in to free up your hands for some dad (and mam) dancing. Very smart. It’s specially designed to crank the party up outdoors, with a splash-proof top panel, a dedicated party mode that spreads the sounds of your playlist further, and a rechargeable battery provides up to 13hr playback bluetooth connectivity for wireless music streaming. Yours for €299 from www.sony.ie.

On the Bathroom Shelf this week is the very slick Shiseido Brow InkTrio; a 3-in-1 pencil, powder and brush that expertly balances, fills and defines brows. I only figured out recently that it’s got sponge-tip applicator pre-loaded with a powder in the middle of it. There’s a slim pencil on one end and a brush on the other end. It’s all you’ll need for perfectly polished brows this summer. Dermatologist- and ophthalmologist-tested, it’s €25 in Arnotts. See www.shiseido.ie for more.
