GIY Cork will hold its next meeting in the Hydro Farm Allotments Tower/Blarney tomorrow at 7.30pm. This is a meeting especially for beginners who wish to start growing vegetables and salads. Macroom Flower & Garden Club presents a spring gardening talk at Coolcower House on Thursday, March 12, at 8pm, with a guest speaker from Sweet Magnolia Garden Centre. Club competitions and plants for sale. Annual membership of €35 now due.
Dungarvan Flower & Garden Club will host an event at the Park Hotel Dungarvan, on Wednesday, March 4, at 8pm, including a talk by Dr Una Fitzpartick, on ‘Simple Ways to Make Your Garden more Pollinator Friendly’, while Maura Curran will discuss ideas to attract pollinators.
Peter Dowdall will be demonstrating some top design tips tomorrow night, March 3, at the Adair Hall in Fermoy from 8pm. Peter will show us a few simple tips to ensure our planting has that “designed” feel and works with the environment.
Devonshire Cream Tea will be served for ‘Devonshire Day’ on Mother’s Day — Sunday, March 22 — at Lismore Castle, Co Waterford. Guests can enjoy Devonshire Cream Tea in the Pugin Room and experience a preview tour of Lismore Castle’s Spring Gardens. Tea and tours take place at 11.30am, 12.40pm, 1.50pm, 3pm and 4.10pm.
