Wish List: Sustainable solutions, cool citruses and vintage vibes

Esther N McCarthy is on a roll for the new year with sustainable solutions, cool citruses and vintage vibes.

I love the way the coloured island adds contrast to this mostly white kitchen. This is Neptune’s Chichester kitchen with the island painted in teal, prices start from €8,000. See neptune.com for Irish stockists.

It’s all about sustainability these days, and I’m delighted to see Irish company Max Benjamin leading the way with their candle refills for the Classic Collection. You just pop the new candle out of a biodegradable paper cup, it sits perfectly into the original white glass (which can also be recycled as it is clear glass coated inorganic paint).

Max Benjamin candle refills are available for all 15 fragrances in their classic collection. They cost €18 (original candles cost €25) and are available at www.maxbenjamin.ie from February 1.

Look out for a rather special visual arts exhibition that’s just kicked off in the Triskel gallery space and co-produced with Cork Printmakers. It’s the first of the shows curated by Miguel Amado, incoming director of Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh.

Pictured here is ‘Homing, 2019, bitumen on salvaged shipping crate’, from Cork-based artist Fiona Kelly’s Overburden exhibition. Her research into the wasteland and abandoned spaces addresses themes of ecology and society. https://triskelartscentre.ie/

On the Bathroom Shelf this week, we peeked inside the January edition of Birchbox.

The products have been picked by broadcaster and mum of two, Rochelle Humes.

It includes this full-size Mélusine Jade Roller, worth €18. The roller is a quick-fix for skincare struggles, is great for improving elasticity and fine lines.
