Esther N McCarthy flings into February with smart sustainables, slick shelves and vintage treasures.
Two lovely pieces I’m spying in this set-up from Ikea’s spring-summer offerings. The glass-door cabinet with three drawers is from the Hemnes collection, it’s a nice size at 90cm by 197cm and the price is great at €329. It’s also made from sustainably-sourced solid pine, a natural and renewable material that gets more beautiful with each passing year. The pendant lampshade is from the Torared line and it’s yours for €15. www.ikea.com/ie/en
I love the concept of Reuzi, the Irish minimal waste shop, online and in Foxrock in Dublin. It’s run by sustainability activist Pat Kane. As well as stocking very cool products, like this Montii Mini for €14, Pat also runs a full calendar of workshops for the community on the subject of recycling, eco-living and sustainability. Gift cards and the first-ever sustainable subscription box in Ireland are available: https://www.reuzi.ie
Willow Antiques in Douglas has some interesting pieces for those of you who are fans of vintage treasures. The ladies will deliver nationwide and they also have a service where they will source individual pieces for clients. Pictured here is a cast-iron bust of a young lady (€155), a 17-in Oriental blue and white vase, (€145), and Masons ginger jars €49. They’re not a matching pair but they look very pretty together. Viewing is available by appointment, contact Connie at 087-3398009 or you can buy online at www.willowantiques.ie

On the bathroom shelf this week we have Semi Di Lino’s new fine hair treatment. Our tester found herself humming ‘Pump Up the Volume’ in the shower and it worked. Reports of fuller thicker hair have been confirmed. It’s launched by Alfaparf Milano, and the new treatment line is a vegan formula with three volumising products — shampoo, €14.25, conditioner for €15.90 and a spray for €15.95. Highly recommended. The range is available in appointed Alfaparf Milano salons. For stockists’ details, see www.alfaparfmilano.com/en-IE/
I love this arthouse wooden shelf, gorgeous for displaying your knick-knacks and maybe some succulents. It’s €44.99 from Littlewoods. www.littlewoodsireland.ie/
