A set of 12 gold bentwood chairs.

The two-day Ballea Castle contents sale gets underway at 11am today.

The contents of Roberts Hardware in Carrigaline, which closed more than a decade ago, will be sold today along with architectural salvage including a pair of ornate cast-iron walled-garden gates, garden furniture, a quantity of cut limestone and cafe bar and restaurant furniture.

The auction will continue at 2pm tomorrow with antique furniture including an Arts and Crafts four-poster bed, art, Irish silver, books, militaria, gilt mirrors, collectibles and jewellery.

A Victorian wardrobe

Among the lots on offer is a 1974 Irish silver tray with a diameter of 24 inches, a watercolour by Maurice Wilks and a pencil sketch by John B. Yeats.

The castle is located near Carrigaline and the sale is to be conducted by Doneraile-based auctioneer Aidan Foley.
