You've Been Served: Nicola Hollingsworth, Spa Manager

I have always been hugely interested in being part of the beauty industry and I trained as a beauty and body therapist.

Living in nearby Youghal at the time, I watched the development of the new Cliff House Hotel from afar and it became a personal ambition to work there. I was delighted to be part of the opening team working at this beautiful hotel in 2008 and I have been here ever since.

I start each work day by greeting all the spa team individually. I will then complete a full walk around of the spa area to check all is in good order and review the paperwork and check lists for the day.

My lunch break is an early bite to eat in the canteen and I usually pop to the cliff walk for 10 minutes to get some fresh air. We are fortunate to be only moments away from this lovely walk which adds a little tranquility and peaceful timeout during a busy work day.

During the afternoon there is plenty of admin and planning to be done and I schedule this throughout the week to ensure I am on the spa floor as much as possible to meet and greet our clients.

We pride ourselves on being with our clients throughout their entire journey of the spa.

I genuinely love my job. I enjoy meeting all of our guests every day. We also have a great team at the spa and the team throughout the hotel are fantastic to work with.

I feel lucky to always enjoy my working day. I take great pride in the level of care, innovation and customisation we give to our guests and creating a space for people to relax and switch off from daily life.

I also love working with our unique, custom made The Well at CLIFF spa products. After almost six years of operating the spa, the decision was taken to develop our unique, custom made, Irish and natural The Well at CLIFF products.

Working with a company based in Ireland, we wanted to reflect the natural settings of both CLIFF spas and reflect our love of Irish heritage in the products we use.

I expected some clients to be resistant, wanting to cling onto big brands but all have thoroughly embraced these beautiful products and they have won several industry awards for innovation and effectiveness since their launch almost two years ago.
