John Deady proposed to Aoife Hennessy as they enjoyed a visit to Killarney National Park, in December 2017, and they returned as newlyweds to Kerry this year to toast to their future together.
Aoife, from Caherduggan, Doneraile, and John, from Gortmore, Banteer, met first met in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow, in September 2010, when they were introduced by mutual friends.
“It was love at first sight, I think!” said Aoife.
They exchanged wedding vows in the Church of St Joseph the Worker, Hazelwood, Mallow, in a ceremony led by Fr Aquin Casey, Cobh, Canon Toby Bluitt, Kanturk, and Fr Francis Nolan, Tralee, with singer Sibéal providing the vocals.
Elizabeth Cott of Wondrous Weddings created the church flower arrangements and bouquets and photographer, Ian Cronin, ensured the wedding album was picture-perfect, with the newlyweds posing for the camera at Kanturk Castle and Hotel.
The reception continued long into the night at Ballygarry House Hotel, Tralee, where both sets of parents, Eileen and Richard Hennessy and Sheila and Patrick Deady, helped lead the revelry.
Aoife’s sister, Niamh Hennessy, was bridesmaid, along with her friends, Essie Linehan, Katie Walsh and Anne O’Donoghue.
Lending their support as groomsmen were John’s friends Joe Twomey, Tim Collins, Ger Kelleher, and Ger Buckley, while nephew Josh Holmes joined the wedding party as pageboy.
Aoife looked stunning in a Ronald Joyce dress sourced in Lilac Rose bridal boutique in Limerick and John sourced his suit in Saville Menswear, Cork.
Catherine Hickey Hair and Makeup looked after the bridal hairstyling while Jennifer Lynes of Living Beauty was the make-up artist.
Describing the occasion as “amazing, from start to finish”, Aoife said: “All our family and friends were wonderful and our suppliers were excellent!
“They were very calm and professional, and made the day special.
“The team at the Ballygarry hotel were exceptional — their attention to detail is out of this world!”
Their honeymoon took the bride and groom to Sorrento, Italy, and they will live in Castlemagner.
Aoife is a teacher in Newport, Tipperary, and John is a truck driver for GreenValley Transport.
