Breaking the ice with bold party looks

Get your skates on – it’s party season. From lush velvet to sequins and silver, Irene O’Brien showcases her festive fashion edit at Cork On Ice.

Much like the costumes of competitive figure skaters, festive dressing requires glitz that makes an impact, sparkle that catches light and stretch that allows the wearer glide into the room and around the dancefloor for many hours into the night.

This season’s party wear is bold and wearable.

Understanding that we want to dress beautifully without compromise, the high-street is awash with velvet dresses, lurex jumpsuits, sequin separates and feather cover-ups, with long sleeves, high necks and pockets as commonplace as spaghetti strings, short hems and body-con offerings.

No longer do we have to choose between comfort and statement — this season’s glam dressing is a celebration of fun and the female form.

Cork On Ice is now open at Mahon Point Shopping Centre until January 2019.
