Margot Robbie is back in the spotlight with the release of Birds of Prey, in which the actor reprises her role as Harley Quinn, the villain with the pink and blue pigtails.
The follow-up to 2016’s Suicide Squad sees the baseball bat wielding beauty team up with a trio of other sassy baddies to fight Gotham City crime lord Black Mask.
The Australian has been pulling out all the stops on the movie’s promo tour, dazzling in a feathered Dries Van Noten top and skirt with fuchsia gloves at the world premiere in London, then opting for a chic black Chanel gown for the Baftas.
The 29-year-old certainly knows how to turn on the glamour when it comes to red carpet dressing, but she also manages to maintain a cool edge with her outfits.
Here, we look back at seven of Margot Robbie’s best fashion moments…
1. Grey lady
It’s not easy to pull off an all-grey ensemble but Robbie more than managed that feat at a charity dinner hosted by Prince William at Windsor Castle in 2014.
Wearing a Ralph Lauren gown with wrap detailing at the top, a silk skirt and open back, she teamed the long-sleeved dress with a matching suede bag, a brunette updo (she’s a natural blonde) and smoky eye make-up.
2. Yellow fever
The Aussie star tends to opt for monochrome and muted colours for high profile events, but on occasion she’ll surprise us with a bold hue.
Case in point: this stunning canary yellow plunge-front gown by Rosie Assoulin at the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2014.
3. Golden girl
Actors dressing like an Oscar statuette has become something of a trend in recent years and Robbie had her golden moment at the 2016 Academy Awards, two years before she received her first nomination.
Donning a Tom Ford gown with long sleeves and a low V-front, she teamed the metallic gown with a tasselled black clutch bag.
4. Fierce fashion
Embracing Harley Quinn’s kooky style, at the European premiere of Suicide Squad in 2016 the Aussie opted for a fashion-forward Gucci gown, quite a departure from her usual block colour looks.
The boho style cream dress had floral straps and embroidery with a tiger emblazoned on the front and a row of sequinned fireflies adding a cool touch.
5. Monochrome moment
Robbie received her first best actress Oscar nomination in 2018 for her portrayal of ice skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.
Perhaps inspired by the Olympic skater’s love of sparkly outfits, at the film’s UK premiere she shimmered in a custom Louis Vuitton column dress with graphic black and white sequin stripes.
6. Queen of the red carpet
Opting for boho glamour once more, at the Mary Queen of Scots premiere Robbie chose a ravishing gown by American designer duo Rodarte.
The white strappy dress with tiny black polka dots and a ruffled hem was embellished with a trio of red roses, which the actor teamed with a scarlet lips.
7. Tulle touch
As its fragrance ambassador, Robbie is frequently dressed by Chanel, and one of her best ever red carpet moments came courtesy of the French fashion house.
At the Baftas 2019 she donned a navy and white custom creation which combined voluminous tulle sleeves and hem with a beautifully beaded bodice.
Glittering glamour with a high-fashion edge, it’s what Margot Robbie does best.
