Young Irishman fights for life after Monaco fall

A young Irishman is fighting for his life in a French hospital after he fell 15 feet from a balcony while watching the Monaco Grand Prix at the weekend.

The 24-year-old, from Kerry, sustained serious head injuries during the accident on Sunday.

He is believed to have climbed some scaffolding in order to get a better view of the race.

He was rushed to hospital in Monte Carlo, but was transferred to Nice, where neurosurgeons operated on him.

He remains in a critical condition and the Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to his family.
