World must fight Donald Trump's climate change 'lunacy', says Green Party leader

The leader of the Green Party has said that the world is going to have to fight against the "lunacy" of Trump when it comes to the issue of climate change.

The new US President-elect has been openly critical of environmental concerns despite the fact that this year is set to be the hottest globally on record.

The latest UN figures says the planet is within just one degree of "catastrophic" temperatures.

Green Party TD Eamon Ryan has a plan to work around Donald Trump.

"We double our efforts within Europe and elsewhere to rid ourselves of the dependency on that American oil," he said.

"Let's just say no to Exxon, let's say no to Texaco.
