Woman seriously injured in Longford crash

A woman has been taken to hospital following a crash which has closed the main Dublin/Sligo Road in Longford.

She was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar, following the three car collision.

It happened at 5.30pm on the Edgeworthstown Road outside of Longford - on the N4 Dublin/Sligo Road.

Gardaí are asking motorists to avoid the area as it will be closed for a number of hours - diversions are in place.
