WIT hosts a new nightlife app for students

Making the scene just got a whole lot easier for students at Waterford IT, thanks to an app showcasing info on venues, bars, restaurants, casinos, events, transport, safety, promotions, discount, deals and loyalty.

SCNE (Social City Nightlife and Entertainment) has been developed by Waterford entrepreneur Jordan Casey, who is a Bachelor of Business (Hons) student at WIT, Ireland’s first fully dedicated entertainment and nightlife app. SCNE (pronounced scene) will launch on iOS first before a Google Play launch, and is aimed at tourists, locals and students in the city and surrounding areas.

A Waterford local and self-taught programmer since age 9, Jordan has established several successful technology startups since 2012 such as ‘Casey Games’ and the award-winning ‘TeachWare’ and KidsCode.

Jordan’s aim for SCNE is to eventually expand to other parts of the country.

Features include: Daily events updates providing a “What’s On” guide for Waterford; Access to exclusive promotions, discounts and deals; Single swipe venue listings and exclusive venue loyalty cards.

From an official partnership with the Purple Flag Waterford Group and Rapid Cabs to a number of venues such as The Reg, Revolution, Oskars, Project, Electric Avenue and Heery’s, the project has also been supported by Boxworks, the Waterford Area Partnership and Something For Everybody.
