Two young men killed in Down road accident

Two teenage men have died after their car hit a wall in Co Down.

The vehicle left the Kilbroney Road in Rostrevor shortly before midnight, police said, ending up in a field.

The collision caused a fire at a nearby oil tank which spread to a property.

A third man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical.

A female resident in the house was also taken to hospital to be treated for shock.

Inspector Stephen Humphries said: “We are working to establish the circumstances of the collision and I am appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the Kilbroney Road prior to the time of the collision and who may have seen a silver Volkswagen Bora on the road.”
