Two men and a woman charged after midlands burglary

Gardaí have charged three people - two men and a woman - after a burglary at a shop in Athlone last Sunday.

The men were 21 and 49 years of age, while the woman was 22. The younger man and woman were arrested on Tuesday in the area of Clara, Co Offaly. The second man was arrested yesterday also in the Clara area.

All three were detained at Athlone Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

They are due to appear before Mullingar District Court this morning.

Gardaí say they recovered a substantial amount of cash during the investigation.

A large amount of money had been taken during the burglary.
