Two arrested after mother and child kidnapped

A man and woman have been arrested after the kidnap of a Co Down mother and her four-year-old child, police said today.

The victim and her son were taken hostage from their Killough home on Wednesday and held for 12 hours in a vacant home in south Belfast.

The woman’s partner, employed by a financial institution, was told to get cash.

Police were contacted after the woman freed herself and her son later that evening.

They had been held in the Ravenhill area and were unhurt but shaken.
