Three still in custody over Longford burglary

Three men are still being detained by gardaí in Longford in connection with an aggravated burglary at the house of an elderly couple.

The 74-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man were locked in the bathroom of their house in Clondra by three men who broke in in the early hours of Thursday morning.

It has been reported the men used a Taser stun gun on the man and threatened to cut off his fingers, while his wife was also badly beaten. They both required hospital treatment afterwards.

Gardaí attended the scene and arrested three men, two in their 30s and one in his 20s.
