Tesco to announce Irish expansion

Tesco Ireland is to make a major jobs and investment announcement later this morning.

The retailer is the largest in the State with 116 stores and employs 13,500 people.

It is believed over 700 new positions will be created in its recruitment drive.

Profit figures for its Irish division are not made public - that data is included as part of the group's international business arm which recently posted an 8% growth rate in Europe.
