Temperatures expected to soar today

Temperatures are expected to reach 17C in parts of the country today.

Met Éireann is forecasting a dry day with good sunshine after some early mist and fog patches clear.

However, it will not be as warm in the south east, due to cool onshore breezes.

The most recent radar image available shows a remarkable clear picture over the entire country at the moment.

The dry weather will see temperatures dip to between two and five degrees across Ireland tonight.

Tomorrow will see cloud blanket most of Munster and South Leinster with some patchy rain possible. There will be an early frost further north, which will clear to leave a drier, but cooler day in the region.

Thursday and Friday will see some rain take hold over southern parts of Munster and Leinster.

Everywhere else will stay clear and dry with temperatures set to hit between 10-15C.

The weekend will see a return of colder weather as northerly winds sweep in. It is expected to stay dry, however north facing coasts may get the odd shower.

Met Éireann predict daytime temperatures will fall back to 10C over the course of the weekend.
