Teenager in custody after man is left critical following Monaghan assault

Gardaí in Monaghan are questioning a teenager after an assault that left a man critical in hospital.

The man in his late 20's was found on the side of the road at Woodview in Killygowan just before midnight on Thursday.

He is being treated for serious head injuries at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

A 19-year-old man was arrested last night and gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
