Teenager dies in Galway car accident

A 15-year-old girl has been killed in a road accident in Co. Galway.

The teenager was walking with a friend at Ros A Mhil, west of the city, at around 9.45pm last night when a car collided with her.

She was taken to University College Hospital, Galway, where she was pronounced dead late last night.

Her friend, a 16-year-old boy, and the male driver of the car were uninjured.

The road remains closed while gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene.

Local diversions are in place.
