Teachers stage walk-out during minister’s speech

A number of teachers have walked out of the annual conference of the Irish National Teachers Organisation this morning during an address by the Minister for Education.

Several other delegates also held up signs expressing opposition to the public-sector pension levy and calling for the retention of special needs classes.

Minister Batt O'Keeffe got an angry reception from hundreds of primary school teachers as he arrived at the conference in Co Donegal this morning.
