Taxi driver 'may have witnessed fatal New Year's car crash'

Gardaí in Dublin are trying to track down a taxi driver who may have witnessed a fatal New Year's crash.

A woman in her 40s was knocked down and killed in Hartstown in the early hours of January 3.

A second woman, who was also hit, is in a serious condition in hospital and a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

However, detectives have now issued a new appeal for witnesses.

They want to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Topaz Garage on the Hartstown Road in Clonsilla between 2.30am and 2.40am.

They are also hoping to trace the driver of a taxi who passed the scene at the time of the collision.
