The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said it is open to any member of the Dáil to lobby the Environment Minister Phil Hogan to get unfinished housing estates exempt from the property tax.
Mr Kenny has again defended a massive drop in exemptions when compared to the household charge, saying half the houses not liable for the €100 payment were empty.
Last night, the Fine Gael candidate in the Meath East by-election, Helen McEntee, appeared to suggest the Coalition would re-examine the list of exempted estates.
In the Dáil the Taoiseach suggested Minister Hogan was willing to listen to any plea for an exemption.
Mr Kenny said: "If Miss McEntee is elected as Government deputy, she will of course be quite entitled to lobby the Minister for the Environment for these conditions for any estate in east Meath.
"It is open to any Government deputy, or any deputy of the House, to make a case in that regard."
