Survey shows drop in house prices

The fall in houses prices has been confirmed by another survey.

The latest Permanent TSB/ESRI house price index shows the average price of a house is just under €279,000.

That compares to just under €288,000 a year ago.

The average price of a house in Dublin is now just under €387,000 compared to just over €240,000 in the rest of the country.

The average price in the commuter counties of Louth , Meath, Kildare and Wicklow is just under €310,000.

Nationally average prices are down by 3.3% for the first four months of this year with Dublin prices down 2.7%, prices outside of the city down 3.6% and prices in the commuter belt down 3.7%.
