Students seeking accommodation warned to consider safety concerns before signing lease

Young people looking for student accommodation are being warned to think of their safety, before signing a lease.

This comes as a survey by the Union of Students in Ireland found that more than 21 % of students experienced damp living conditions.

The Oil Firing Technical Association is reminding those eager for accommodation to carry out essential checks before moving in.

It advises to ask for a BER certificate, to ensure alarms are in order and to take photographs of the property.
