Staff to mount strike action at Cork oil facility

SIPTU workers at the Conoco Phillips oil facility in Bantry, Co Cork, are beginning a 48-hour work stoppage this morning.

The move has been arranged as part of a campaign by 18 staff members to secure equal pay with employees at the National Oil Refinery Authority plant in Whitegate, Co Cork.

SIPTU and management in Bantry have already been to the Labour Court in a bid to resolve the dispute.

The union, however, has accused the company is failing to engage positively with its workers in an effort to find a solution.
