The Minister for Sport Shane Ross arrives in Rio later today where he is due to discuss the Olympic tickets controversy with OCI president Pat Hickey.
Irishman Kevin Mallon, who was arrested in Brazil last week, has been accused of trying to re-sell hundreds of tickets earmarked for team Ireland.
There has been tension between the Olympic Council of Ireland and the Minister over the issue.
The Sports Minister has indicated he wants an independent investigation into the sale of some of Ireland's Olympic ticket allocation.
Minister Ross has said there is a "question mark" over the Olympic Council of Ireland's internal inquiry into the matter.
