Six stitches for garda injured near Oxegen

A 20-year-old man is to appear before a special sitting of Naas District Court this morning charged in connection with an incident outside the Oxegen music festival in Co Kildare.

Just before 2am today, a garda was injured when a car failed to stop at a checkpoint set up outside the Punchestown venue.

The car was stopped shortly afterwards and three men were arrested; two have since been released without charge.

The garda received six stiches at Naas General Hospital and was later discharged.
