Shots fired at Offaly house

A family escaped injury when shots were fired at their home, gardaí revealed last night.

Two shots were fired at the house in the Scurragh area of Birr, Co Offaly, while two adults and their young children slept upstairs at approximately 3am on Thursday morning.

Gardaí said a technical examination of the scene was carried out earlier in the day.

Detectives at Birr garda station are investigating the incident.
