Serious sex assault on young girl; five men and two women held in Dublin, Wexford

Seven people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the alleged serious sexual assault of a young girl.

The five men and two women were detained this morning in Dublin and Wexford.

The woman are both in their 40s while the men range in age from 19 to 47.

They are currently being detained in a number of stations in the south Dublin area under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. They can be questioned for up to 24 hours.

Gardaí say there are no further details available in relation to this investigation.
