Serious accident on Portlaoise/Carlow road

Emergency services are dealing with a serious road accident on the N80 Portlaoise/Carlow road at Arles village.

It is understood a motorbike and a van were in collision at around 6am this morning.

The extent of injuries is not known, but the crash is being described as serious by gardaí.

The road is currently closed between Arles Village and Simmons' Mill.
