Search resumes for man seen entering River Lee last night

The search for a man in his 50s who is missing, feared drowned, in the River Lee in Cork is due to resume at 9am this morning.

The man is believed to have entered the water on the western outskirts of Cork city last night.

A coast guard helicopter, Gardaí and members of the Cork City and Ballincollig fire brigades took part in the search operation along a stretch of the river near the Angler's Rest pub in Carrigrohane, near Ballincollig.

Gardaí are checking CCTV footage from the area in a bid to identify the man however, it is believed that he is in his 50s.
