Search for missing Limerick woman scaled down

The search for a missing 82-year-old Limerick woman in Italy has been scaled down.

Mairead Geary was last seen last week near the northern town of Stresa. She was holidaying in the area with a group of approximately 40 people from Limerick.

The alarm was raised when she did not return for dinner.

Police and mountain rescue teams have been combing the area for the past week.

Mrs Geary’s sons travelled out to Italy earlier this week but have now returned home.
