Ross: Former CRC boss should be obliged to answer questions on top-ups

The Public Accounts Committee may seek the powers to compel current and former staff at the Central Remedial Clinic to appear before it.

Yesterday, the CRC's chief executive Brian Conlon resigned and indicated he would not be answering questions at the PAC when it meets this week.

The PAC has called CRC board members and former executives to explain how charitable donations were used to top up salaries.

However, since tendering his resignation Mr Conlon, who did not receive a top-up, is now declining an invitation to attend the PAC tomorrow.

Independent TD Shane Ross, who is on the Public Accounts Committee, has said he should be obliged to answer questions.
