Revenue seizes €4.2m of cigarettes in Wexford

Revenue officers seized approximately eight million cigarettes following the search of a number of premises in Wexford yesterday.

The cigarettes had come into Dublin Port from Vietnam via Rotterdam last Friday in a container which was consigned as "Garden Furniture".

The contraband cigarettes, branded "Aroma", have a retail value of more than €4.2m, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €3.3m.

Revenue seizes €4.2m of cigarettes in Wexford

Investigations are ongoing and it brings the total number of cigarettes seized so far this year to more than 36 million.

They are appealing to anyone with information to contact the Revenue confidential line at 1800 295 295.
