Report reveals rise in waiting times for hospital procedures

Waiting times for hospital procedures are on the rise, according to a HSE report.

The report, published in today's Irish Times, showed that the number of adults waiting more than nine months for an elective procedure has more than doubled from 415 in September of this year to 995 at the end of October.

The number of children waiting more than 20 weeks is up almost 50% from 276 in September to 410 in October.

The Health Minister had set a target of no adult or child waiting more than nine months or 20 weeks for treatment by the end of September.
