PSNI officer hurt in gang attack

A police officer sustained a head injury today during an attack by brick-throwing youths in Craigavon.

A police vehicle was also badly damaged when the gang of up to six masked young people pelted officers with bricks and stones in the Drumbeg area at around 11am this morning.

Officers were responding to a genuine report of a burglary when they were targeted.

The officer struck on the head is not believed to be seriously injured.

Police said they were unable to carry out enquiries about the burglary as a result of the attack.

They have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
