PSNI find handgun in bin in Newry

Police in the North have recovered a firearm in Newry.

The handgun was found in a bin in an alleyway on John Martin Street in the city at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

The PSNI says it is reckless that a firearm would be left in a residential area frequented by members of the public, including children.

The handgun has now been sent for further forensic examination.
