Preparations underway for Ploughing Championships

Final preparations are underway for the 78th National Ploughing Championships.

Ireland's biggest outdoor agricultural event gets underway in Athy, Co Kildare on Tuesday.

The first ploughing match was held in the town in 1931.

Up to 150,000 people are expected to attend this year's championships and a major Garda traffic plan will be in operation.

Nineteen All-Ireland Ploughing Finals will be held over the three-day event and there will also be a massive trade arena featuring farming machinery, fashion and food.
