Post mortem to be carried out on beach-death girl

A post mortem examination will be carried out today on the body of a young girl who drowned in west Cork.

The 13-year-old died after getting into difficulty with a friend at a beach in Inchydoney near Clonakilty.

Gardaí and lifeboat crews rushed to the scene when the alarm was raised at around 6pm yesterday.

The girl’s body was taken to Cork University Hospital.
