Polls close in Dáil by-elections

Polling stations have now closed for those voting in the two Dáil by-elections.

The Roscommon-South Leitrim ballot is being held to fill the Dáil seat vacated by newly-elected MEP Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan, while the seat in Dublin South West was left vacant following the election of Fine Gael’s Brian Hayes to the European Parliament.

More than 120,000 people are entitled to have their say but voter turnout has been extremely low.

Counting is set to begin in the morning.
