PICS: Firefighters contain blaze at Cork city centre IT store

No casualties have been reported after a fire broke out at a commercial premises in Cork city centre last night.

UPDATE (7.55am): Garda at Anglesea Street confirmed that one man walked out of the building coughing and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. His condition is not currently thought to be serious.

According to a Garda spokesman, the fire started at IT Central in Castle St at some time before 11pm.

The two premises either side of the computer repair and retail outlet were also damaged.

The cause of the fire is not known at this point. No arrests have been made.

Firefighters left the scene at 5am this morning when they were satisfied the blaze was fully extinguished.

The scene has been preserved and Castle Street will remain closed until a full technical examination can be carried out by gardaí and the Fire Brigade.
