Pedestrian in critical condition following collision on Tipperary road

A man in his mid-40s is in hospital after a collision in County Tipperary overnight.

The pedestrian suffered critical injuries when he was hit by a vehicle near Nenagh in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai say that as a result, the R494 road between Newtown and Portroe will remain closed for several hours.
