Number of counterfeit euro notes on decline

There has been a decrease of 13% in the number of fake euro notes in circulation.

Figures from the ECB show 387,000 were detected in the first six months of the year, out of a total of 13 billion in use.

The most widely counterfeited note is the €50 note, followed closely by the €20 note.
