No more time off for civil servants to cash paycheques

The practice of giving civil servants time off to cash their pay cheques is to come to an end.

Union leaders were told yesterday that the fortnightly half-hour time-off will end next month.

Extra days off at Christmas and Easter may also be a thing of the past under the new rules from the Department of Finance.

The Government has also set a target of reducing the number of sick days by 10% by the end of next year.
