New deputy Garda Commissioner to be appointed

A new Deputy Garda Commissioner will be appointed following an open competition.

The successful applicant will assist Commissioner Drew Harris in implementing a major reform of An Garda Siochana.

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan hopes the selection process will get underway as soon as possible.

Candidates from outside of Ireland are invited to apply, as well as serving members of the force.
