The National Council for Special Education (NCSE) today announced the allocation of an additional 380 resource teacher posts to support students with special educational needs.
The posts are in addition to the extra posts allocated to schools last May and relate to the applications for support submitted by schools after the May allocations closing date.
Together, the total number of resource teacher posts allocated to schools for this year is 6,832 – an increase of 10% on the total allocation this time last year.
In the last three school years, an extra 1,567 resource teacher posts have been sanctioned for schools which have enrolled students with special educational needs.
