Motorbike rider killed in race crash

A motorbike rider was killed in a race in north Dublin today.

The competitor’s bike skidded into a padded pole during the Skerries 100 road race.

The 36-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male spectator sustained leg injuries in the incident and was taken to Beaumont Hospital.

The event was cancelled after the fatality.
