Minister confirms new name of department

Minister Heather Humphreys has confirmed that her department has changed its name.

It will now be known as the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

It follows an outcry from the arts community over the "downgrading" of the arts in the new department.

Minister Humphreys id that placing 'Arts' at the start of the title reflects the fact that the arts division accounts for the biggest portion of her Department's budget.
